I had some dutch wheat beer a couple of weeks ago. And I must say that having lived in Holland for 4 years, this beer tasted dutch! It's hard to explain, but having tasted the bread and dairy their I have to say that this beer had a definate Dutchness to it along the same line as milk and bread, sorta that rich organic flavor. Unfortunity in my pressent situation I can't give you the name since both this library and my work block alcohol related websites. I'm sure Legion will know it wad H....garten or something similar. Anyways, it was an interesting try and definatly something I would try again. Kinda wierd to think that Heineken is dutch as well but doesn't taste dutch, I guess I would have to try one actualy brewed in Holland as opposed to where ever the ones sold here are mad. Anyone have any Nashville/TN specific beers to recommend while I'm here?

Hoegaarden...A fine brew indeed !!...i like a lot of the beers from der Nederlandse. The Trappist ales are an aquired taste, but it's amazing how different, and unique the way each brewer add's a distinctive flavor and style to their ales. Who says monks have no fun?? ;D

I have this great beercoaster from Hoegaarden. I simply says "All I need is love, All I get is home work." and the back has space for a stamp and an adress with the inscription "spread the love". That's one of my favorites from my collection

Better l8 than never . . .
I decided earlier this week to try the Saranac 6 pack sampler dealiemabob to include the original Adirondack Lager, a Black and Tan, an India Pale Ale, and a couple of the regular Pale Ales. I liked the Black and Tan the best, it was my first black beer and, well . . . it may be true what they say "Once you go Black . . . ." but besides that i liked the India pale ale a great deal, definitely wanna get some more of dem, and the Adirondack Lager was definitely up there with the Black and Tan as far as my tasstes go, undevelloped as they may be. However, the Pale Ale not only left me wanting, something about it reminded me of some kind af antibiotic my mom used to have to force down my throat as a child, i mean it wasn't overwhelming so much as to where i couldn't pallate the both of them but the trace was present, definitely will avoid these in the future. I think i wanna try that caramel porter next, it sounds absolutely irresistable. Ahhh, no b33r n00b ever had it so good.

It really is a shame that more fine Japanese beers dont make the mass market here in the goo' ole' usa...Kirin is pretty snappy...nowhere near Sapporo tho... the ICHIBAN is eeehhhh !!!! I've had a few fine Japanese beers when i usta dine in manhatten.but i've never seen any really good land of the rising sun beers mass marketed here..helpful hint: DO NOT under any circumstances (including dehydration) drink CHINESE beers..unless your the kind of strange human/lizard hybred that enjoys the taste of swamp water.

I was in the greens the other day and saw several kinds of Sapporo, which would u reccomend At one point,i was keeping a list of alla beers i've tried-micro and multi billion dollar mass produced toilet water...some of the japanese beers i've had..Sapporo Premium,Sapporo Draft,Sapporo Lion Ale,and Sapporo Black were all really good.Sapporo has some other styles i havn't tried ...some others from my list that were good to average,if ya can find them, try 'em,you be the judge..Ginga Koken-a weizen,Suntory Brown Ale,Yona Yona Pale Ale,Asahi Black,Asahi Super Premium,Koedo Pilsner and Satsuma Ale plus the Kirin beers are pretty good.I'm a fiend for Japanese food,so i've had some of these at restaurants..dunno if ya can find em inna stores..no offense to the south but when i lived up north way,the stores carried tons of micro and import beers, always something new to try..i've noticed that down south he'yar theys got diddly in the good beer dept.I guess the goo'ole boys jus loves they urine flavored water..Bud,Miller,Coors etc. Canned Vomit in a 30 pack...YEE HAAA !!!!!!....y'all.....

I had a couple of pitchers of Shiner's Hefe Wiese over the weekend. It was the best damn beer I've had in a long time. Since moving to TN i've had a Fosters and bought myself a 12 pack of Red Dawg, it's cheep and tastes relatively good. I noticed that this pub carries Smithwicks (sp?) I've been wanting to try that out for a while, but you can't find it in Savannah so I will definatly try to get a swing of that in before I leave.

I tried a red stripe the other day, i can't say really anything special about this beer, other than the fact that it comes in, as the commercials put it, a short stubby ugly bottle. It tasted like it may have been a beer for uuugly people, but other than that nothing more than a standard run of the mill lager. On a higher note i finally got arround to trying Hobgoblin, and golly goshy gee was that a tasty b33r! I want some more. I'd never tried a dark ale before but as things seem to be panning out my tastes are seeming to aim moreso towards the dark side. Did i mention i wants me a 'nother'n, heh heh heh.
