Sessho asked me to post this. First rule of cosplay: Must wear costume proportionate to your body type.

ok so now that i have you attention, is anyone out there? I have this feeling about AZ next year that i fear if we don't act fast we won't have rooms. I know Sucosa and myself as well as joey and connie want to return once again. Im pretty sure that Spooks and Jager want to as well but maybe they'll confirm that for me here? I want to go ahead and get our rooms reserved and a couple of mini fridges. just please lemme know something!!! if not on this board hit me on the Yakuza board cause i'm thinkin about pimpin this board and AZ over there too. maybe we can get a bunch of people from our yakuza group to join in with us and we'll do a zombie crawl or a cro high take over!!! =P

Mmm, global defense force suits...
I already stated we're in, so grab the rooms.
I still think we should organize - between here and Yakuza, we have enough to get a group discount.

kratos, where do you guys buy fabric? are there better places down there in hah poynt than hancock fabrics and the jo-ann tore up here in greensboring? the stuff up here is pitiful for making abnormal clothing. any online rec's??? have looked at some but don't like buying the proverbial pig in a poke unless i know a merchant is very reputable. thanks. I have made steps toward making Alucard, we bought the matterial for the suit and a pattern to follow for a general shape. .

bewilderbeeste,
due to the lack of stores in the area all i have to go to is jo-ann and hancock. i prefer hancock though. there is one on high point road in greensboro and on in winston as well of one of the creeks. i can't remember which one though. i don't think i've seen many of your post. are you from the high point area? if your not already you should join our yakuza group on yahoo as well as here. there are some smaller fabric stores but they're mostly industrial fabrics for textiles.

Depending on the costume, industrial or home dec fabrics are useful since they tend to be more ornate and such wide bolts (jaquards, damasks, sheer fabrics with embroidery, etc). Also, those smaller stores can be awesome. There's a tiny hole in the wall here that puts any of the mainstream stores to hardcore shame. And yeah, Sucosa, feel free to pimp The Hall.

thanks, kratos.. it seems i'll just have to wait out the current "trash fest" both stores are having lately. hancock used to have nice stuff but cleared out all of that to put in their home-decor section. thanks for your help, it never hurts to ask if there's anything in the next town over.

the hole in the wall stores have pretty much disappeared here. i think there is one on battleground that sells cottons for making smocked dresses.. kids clothes. the industrial and home dec stuff is looking rather tacky lately.. and much of it is treated with government required flame retardants that do not wash out, so if anything decent found would have to be relegated to outwear. if the store near you could be cloned, that would be a very nice thing. was extremely impressed by their stock.

Spook picked up a manga at AFO that may have some really cool costume possibilities. I would make great group cosplay since there are plenty of interesting characters of both sexes. It's also something that has not been cosplayed to death, I have seen one person do it so far. I dig the story as well, though I have only read book one, so far, give it a try D.Gra-Man
