ok so here's the deal, in an effort to become more fit and to get in better shape i'm going to do a weekly check in here. I know it sounds lame but i need support from my closest friends. a little while back sucosa and i started our new diets and are doing pretty well i think. So i finally got brave and started weighing myself around a week ago today, I came in at 232. Now a week later after doing slot of outdoor work and getting stricter on my diet and with working too much lately I haven't had time to get to the gym but i'm weighing in at 220. So this is a way for me to stay motivated and hopefully you'll all keep the fire lit under my ass to keep moving! Kratos here i come.

Yeah I need to do something similar. At one point I was really good about excersising, but then somehow the fuse went out and I got progressively less and less motivated. So now I've lost most of what I may have built up over the last couple of years. It strange I worked out for many years and got some marginal results but I stop and in very little time everything is completly gone.

Good luck man. It takes a lot of work. To really be succesful you have to change many aspects of your life. What you eat and what you do, both are hard to change but it can be done. I recomend lots of sex! Burns a lot of calories and you get instant rewards!
I'm only 5'7 but I've been up to 175 pounds before, which is a lot of weight for a guy my size. Right now I hit 145-150. it wasn't easy dropping that 30 pounds, and it gets more and more difficult to lose the next pound. Now I'm in great physical shape but it sure didn't happen over night.

I could use a weekly thing too - I guess this thread seems to be turning into that. Maybe we could all post what we did/are doing that week and whether it was successfully completed or not, and if it wasn't then everyone chew them out.... it'd motivate me since I need to lose the 15# I gained at my last employer ("and more" according to a less-than-tactful close source that we all know... (grumble grumble) ). It's amazing what misery and never being home to eat right can do to a person... besides making them fall out and get sent to the ER, get severe dehydration, hives, and all the other problems... which seemed to near instantly evaporate once I got out... except for one thing... but I'll leave that for a blog post or something...

i really appreciate all of you getting in here and helping me with my venture. trish, if it makes you feel any better, i need to lose more than 15. i'm shooting for a minimum of no less than 20. that would get me down to 200. I'm 5'8" so that would be about right for me with my muscle mass. if I could get below that maybe as low as 190 or so I would be nearly all muscle and very little body fat percentage. That's what i'm really shooting for, shed the fat and make my muscle rally show. I SHALL BECOME THE GOD OF WAR!!! LOL but seriously, i went to the gym tonight and did a solid hour of cardio. I'm thinking two or three more of these and i'll start my taebo and get back into my tai chi. well untill next time, see you space cowboy.

I think that's my problem I have no cardio strengh, so my workouts are not very effective. I usualy try to jump some rope, but I'm sure I should do ALOT more of it. I also need to find a sustainable workout, that is also beneficail. I can do a good solid workout for a couple of weeks, but then I always get tired and start doing less and less. So right now I'm strating with something small do that for a while and then work my way into a more complete work out routine.

i think thats the best way to do it, ease into it instead of jump with both feet into something that looks like your trying to kill yourself

Smoking Marlboros in my Cadillac on the drive to the liqour store to buy beer is the one program i've managed to sustain for the past 35 years...the down-side to that is i'll probably be long dead while the rest of you are still scuffing up clouds of dust on this shitty orb...seriously tho gradually working into a routine of excersise and eating a healthy diet goes a long way..remember, the road to Hell is paved with McDonalds burger wrappers and pizza boxes.

Now that I'm away from That Wretched Job (tm) I've started to try eating a more balanced diet. I still slip a little, but I'm getting better at it. I definitely feel better. Once I get more into that habit, I need to work on the portion control thing. I eat good things, but too much of them sometimes. I think it stems from being stuck at a dining table for hours on end until I "clean my plate" when I was a child, so now I have a hard time registering that I'm satisfied and don't need to eat anything else. I know I have a hard time pushing the plate away when I am full even if there is still food on it, probably because of the clean plate thing.
I'm supposed to get into my new apartment on Sept 1. It's on the ground floor and the next building down from the gym and pool in the complex. I have a good work schedule, so if I don't take advantage of the fact that I can now get my bike out with the hassle of stairs (if you're short, you'll understand me completely....) or to go exercise or swim or something. Way back when, I used to work out 3x a week and swim 5 or 6 days a week - maybe I can get back into that. Either way, if I don't take advantage of theses things, I need to be hung up by my toes.

Alright it's sunday so it's time for this weeks update! I'm weighing in this week at 217. I know it's only three pounds this week but it was my sixth aniversary this week so I kinda slipped a little. But hey, it's still an improvement an a step (be it small) in the right direction. How about everyone else, has anyone decided to jump into the trendy world of weight loss and gym going while eating wholesome foods that are insanely overpriced?

No unfortunatly I have not gotten that far in my motivational level. I just try to excersise some better portion control and my other rule of not eating after 8 pm unless I truely need to. I also try to do my little excersise routine daily, but I think that is more to make myself feel happy.

Mixed results on portion control. I'll do really well one meal but blow it on the next. Along with the stuff I've been measuring portion sizes, I've started buying some things that are already in single servincs though it costs more, so I'm trying to be judicious in what sort of things like that I buy. Stuff that I binge on (like ice cream) I took to work where time constraints force me to stick to one small serving. I usually don't buy sweets, but they tend to end up in the house because Jager has a sweet tooth, and as much of a bigger one that I have, I don't argue... but at least I don't buy... that's a good start. And I think taking the bingey things to work are also a good start. Not really any extra exercise this week other than some stairs to go up and down each day, but I'm not surprised at that. I know if I start a regimen now, it'll only get thrown off by moving in a few weeks, so my goal is to start when I get into the new place, to start the first full week of september.
