CRAP IN A HAT! Do i ever have a liver's load of catching up to do! I finally found my hat and i think it's gonna be grand and only 45.99 plus s+h. Sure it's a bit pricey, but i'd rather have what i want on the mark, besideds it's a nice hat and i'll probly wear it quite a bit as i like such styles of hats. It's complete with a 2 7/8" brim which shall be most substantial for that brim shadow over the brow look i seek to achieve.. By the by i did finallly decide upon which image to folow, the original 8-bit sprite. It turns out to be more than what i need tto work from as my imagination transforms block patterns into what will be wearable peices of the outfit (items that will either be made or purchased). I checked out teh cosplaylab and saw everything not to do as was informed i would. Most of them looked like some kinda bard or flower picking fairy or something; not what the red mage of my perspective would look like at all. What i see the red mage being is something very refined almost to the point of cavalier but once again not so frilly. I'll be pulling off a color scheme of mostly red with both black and white outlining and detail, e.g. black belt, black hat band (as pictured above), black boots, etc . . . I mentioned borrowing a nice swordsman's shirt from my friend, it's something a swashbuckler or someone like that would wear. It's white and long sleeved but made with a light breathable material and over that i'll probly wear a red above knee tunica style surcoat which i shall make after i have found suitable color matching fabric. I'll use the same fabric as part of my cloak which shall have black lining which shall be made from a slightly heavier flat black fabric, however again no fabrics shall be chosen until the arrival of the ever crucial hat. Thats the trejectory at the moment, but there's no telling where the journey will take me. Hey Beefy - that guy's link I posted with the excellent Bateau lenses - are those jeweler's monocles? Sincerely doubtful: 1)The thing in that guy's eye looks too flat to be so. 2)in real life it's bery hard to hold a jewelers monocle in your eye, especially for the entire length of a convention. . . . . . . .It's a completely superficial question, but what's everyone else doing for their photos? (Trust me- you WILL get photo'd. A LOT.) Oh, i was hoping you'd ask that. Why i'll be striking all the classics to include the 2 frame attack with sword, victory dance, confused, down with status ailiment (e.g. poison, petrify, etc), and of course dead. Who knows i may just cast Lit2. AZ '04 pics have been posted in a gallery for those interested in seeing them. See "Coming Soon to a Hall Near You!" thread in the Quagmire, Reply #38, for more details. So i saw. You were unclear as to who the young lady bearing the dual chakra style weapons was portraying, i believe that ould be Sun Shang Xiang from the Dynasty Warriors series of video games. Oh by the way, about the Cecil and Rosa pair WOW!!!if i come to 1/10 that quality i'll be satisfied. I'm absolutely 100% blown over by the accuracy and attention to detail in these getups. They both do Amano's concept art much justice i feel.

The shorts are 75% done! w00t!! Today I hemmed them, hemmed the remaining black panel, added both black panels, lined one pocket (so I won't get red fuzzies all over whenever I get something from the pockets), attached said pocket, pinned the second pocket, started the extra belt loops and placing them and general overall finishing off little things. Whew!
I still have to line the 2nd pocket, sew it on, add small black panels above the pockets, sew on the belt loops in the correct places, and add silver studs (which I still need to go buy). I may also do some edgework in black thread - dunno yet.
Nice hat, Meathead!

After some coxing (in anouncing, not choosing) I shall now anounce that I shall be Mouse for AZ. He is the offbeat repairman from the second Armatige film. Me and Armatige are gonna roam around I shall try soliciting AOL disks to people with her 'software' on it. His only downfall is that his voice is done by the guy that did Jar Jar, but I wanted to do something simple the first time and then go all out next year. I also contemplated being D the vampire hunter, Jace from Poison Elves, as well as the Shadown Ninja from Ninja scrolls with the giant claw arm, as well as a Demon Exterminator from Inu Yasha (that was my other simple choice).
Costume Compleetion: 5% I have a grey shirt ( but it's not tight enough, but it will be a good backup). I have the two foam balls that will be the things on his head, but it's not painted yet. Needed: -grey tights (yes tights) -black slip on style boots ( I can find many of these but I don't want to spend 100+ on it) -green wig -a skirt (I belive brown) that should be just a simple sawing job -a uttility belt -tight ass grey long sleeve shirt

I have a thought about the boots - instead of boots, Jager, how about just making something that attaches to your current, nicely broken in boots? Like maybe a black wrap around dealie that velcroes to itself and stay put? Then all we'd have to do is edge the top of it with the yellow ribbon stuff that would go on the shirt. I thought of that when I realised Mouse doesn't have laces or anything at all on those boots of his except the thingies on the ankles... wow "ankles" is a funny looking word......
The skirt - thought that was yellow as opposed to brown? I may be mistaken....

HORRRAYYY! i'm excited if you couldn't tell because the end of sesshomaru means the begining of Evil Alice. so here's my money and time log for ya. (these are estimations)

I think I picked the wrong time to search for a tight long sleave shirt/turtleneck that is one color and not ladden with graffics!

Spooks, I think you forgot to ad a 'back' button to the pictures pages. There isn't one. To get it posted in a hurry, I used Angelfire's photo album thingy. (nice, but uses too much space) It doesn't include a back button. After AZ '05, I'll probably be taking it down and build a slimmer version myself.

I finally got some more usable things for my costume: a web-utility belt, a belt attachmet that looks like it would hold two cans of mace or two pen lights (really for piston amo clips) and a large satchel belt attachment for my varios stuff (really for magazines to assult rifles). Can you guess what store this was from? Total Spent $30 Hours of work 0 I have not spent any time making anything yet but about 5-10 hours shopping.

I may also do some edgework in black thread - dunno yet. Ummm... I've been slack or busy, depending on who you ask. I'm still at the same point in my costume, though the handcuffs and holder have been aquired, and I finally hammered my gun together. The ball bearings used to weight it are in two caches, with a 40/60 balance. It feels good in the hand, but I sort of wish I had added some batting or something to keep the bearings from rattling... but then.. I actually kinda like the rattling. Costometer - $26 Timometer - 15 hrs

Don't feel alone Spook, Josh has taken a small break on working on his costume- since we got his new toy. I am still costume-less till Josh's costume is done. I am still needing to go by the party city to pick up a plastic Knife, fake blood and some theatrical make up. We are still searching for Josh's Wig. Any ideas where a good place to look for one in greensboro?
