Hello, My name is Tina and I am a Anime addict. Dear husband and I cannot for some reason unglue ourselves from the televison on saturday nights- from the begging of Rave Master to the end of Cowboy Bebop, We are hooked. All of this sounds pathetic- maybe we watch the cartoons with our kids, you may say, nope- they are usually in bed for Adult swim and as they should be- all though I would proably laugh at Aiden ( the 3 year old) when he told his Nana "you D*mbA**" like Super Milk Chan. so I pose a question to you all- who likes anime and what is their favorite? I like everything ( well I take that back- I really don't like Super Milk Chan) But I like everything from Full Metal Alchemist to Salior Moon. We happen to be so Insane about Anime that my Dear hubby is quite a seamstress and he makes anime costumes and sells them on Ebay- his list includes Miroku. Inuyasha and Ruroni Kenshin. I am glad he is so talented- I don't chose to sew or cook for that matter ( personal motto if it doesn't come from the can. freezer bag or a box- I don't cook it) Thank Goodness my kids like spagetti O's and mac n cheese. Thanks for listening to rambling.

Anime? Loves it! Don't have time to list anything since I have to get ready for mass, but definitely loves it. If I have time tuesday (I finally get a day off - today and tomorrow are all shot) I'll post what I like. Sucose - may need to borrow your hubby's services (doesn't that sound raunchy!) to prepare for the next Animazement! (see? innocent! Where was your mind - in the gutter?) Can't remember when I started watching anime - it's always been there for me. Sorry this is so short, but I add more next time. Ciao!

I have a lot of favorites myself- favorite right now is Witch Hunter Robin, with Full Metal Alchemist falling right behind that one. I still am a die hard Inuyasha fan- a tip for us scrooges with the money is to buy the dubbed box sets off ebay- they maybe imports but they are a lot cheaper and they have the same voices as Cartoon Network has. Cowboy Bebop rules- We have a doggie named Ein- who looks like Ein from Cowboy Bebop (therefore the name). Spook, Josh said he would be glad to help you with a costume- just let us know who you want to be. Well gotta run- the laundry calls!!

Dubbed??quote] Hey there is nothing wrong with a little dubbing! I wonder why no one else has thought of making a ......ehhh I forgot the f*cking word....anyway, the thing we are in right now. Been reading too much Groo. Ok my Favs: InuYasha, Cowboy Bebop Hellsing (it has its moments) ...those are really the only two series I've seen and like..atleast as far as I can remember Movies... Princess Mononoke My Neighbor Totoro Porco Rosso Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust La Blue Girls (there is just something mesmorizing about sex ninjas and wierd horny aliens) Just kidding. Geeze my mind is blank I will have to do this another day. One of you brought up the two versions of Kenshin, I will reveal my total lack of knowledge here...which one is the bad version? I've seen the version they have on Toonami, but I know that there is a version before that so I assume the Toonami is the crappy one. Word of advice avoid buying any Chinese made (Jap)Anime. I got a box set of Cowboy Bebop for $35 . Plays great, has original Jap dialogue, and Hularious Chinese dialogue, but the english subtitles were writen by a person who has no concept of the art of subtitling nor a firm grasp of the english language (i'm one to talk). I also have two inuyasha movies that are da direct Japanese cut, via China, they are so pirated I can only play them through my computer, but the films are interesting none the less. A final splurt: I remember back in the day (mid 90's) The sci-fi network used to show anime 9 am on saturdays, that's where I saw a lot of the anime I watch now for the first time. They had a series from Record Of Lodoss War, i think it was the original one, that was great, (they never finished showing all of it). So I went out and bought a box set from the series. The Chronicals of Heroic Knights, i was rather disappointed, either I changed or the show did, cause somehow the magic was not there. The only other anime I was that disappointed with was the Amon Saga, it was too simple and rather boring if you ask me. Remember, Ed is Ed!

There is the original Record of the Lodoss War then there is the continuation which is Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. Blargh, it's too comical for me. I loved the original.
Rouruni Kenshin the original is also known as Samurai X in the states. The difference is that the Kenshin in the states is a goof ball in the OAV and basically a total tard. The Samurai X he is a child that was a slave who rose in the revolution to become Boutasai (Man Slayer) He was cursed with a scar on his face (the infamous X on his cheek) because he killed an innocent. The innocent he killed was a soon to be husband to a woman that Kenshin fell in love with when he was an assassin, after a major revolt he fled along with the clan he was working for, the woman whom Kenshin was now in love with wanted revenge at first, but began to fall in love with Kenshin. When her past catches up to her. I don't want to spoil the ending to this great movie but to say the least, it is one hell of an anime. If you liked Cowboy Bebop you'll love Samurai X. (just the first movie, not the second I haven't watched the second yet but I know it bridges out and tells the rest of Kenshin's life to his death where the X FINALLY heals from the slaying of the innocent.)
Hellsing is alright, the preacher is sadistic to say the least but you gotta love a .45 with Jesus Christ written on the side. Nah, it does have its moments.

Anime huh? I reckon I right cotton ta dem der Japernese car toons. Wouldn't say I'm in to it so far as to call myself an addict, but I've been known to make use of my organic optical devices for veiwing such things in my day. I tend to slide towards the movie side of things more or less, though I have had the pleasure of veiwing a handfull of series that I did enjoy and felt were worth sitting all the way through, to include Cowboy BeBop (my fav), YuYu Hakusho (1st and 2nd season), Bubblegum Chrisis :Tokyo 2040,Ronin Warriors, Speed Racer First Season (OHHHHHHH),Inuyasha (just the first season), Helsing, Trigun, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon SS, Gundam Wing and Dragonball/DBZ. I remember waaay back when I could wake up at the arse crack o'dawn to watch dragonball before I got sent off to the larval human processing institute . . before the dark times . .before the Network. But I don't really get int series these days, Nitsuj will show me Naruto episodes when he gets em and even though it's cool and all I just have a hard time getting into 'em like I used to.
BUUUUUUUUUUT . . . .
Of movies I do still partake in these dark times, and I've seen a good many that I've enjoyed most thoroughly, to include: Ghost Iin the Shell (one of my favoritest movies PERIOD), Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis, Ninja Scroll, Twilight of the Dark Master, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Street Fighter II: The Movie, Endless Waltz, Transformers: The Movie ( I STILL haven't figured out how Dare to be Stupid fits into the soundtrack of this movie, oh well). Those are the ones that stick in me melon anysay. I'm sure each of you could pprobably tell me a dozen things I should see, but the philosophy I employ for anme is if it doesn't come to me it wasn't meant to be.

Yeah, That's how I feel about Records too, the Chronicles were boring as hell. Rouruni Kenshin the original is also known as Samurai X in the states. The difference is that the Kenshin in the states is a goof ball in the OAV and basically a total tard. The Samurai X he is a child that was a slave who rose in the revolution to become Boutasai (Man Slayer) I've never seen the Samurai X version. however some of the early episodes of the Goofy series were entertaining. Althought I guess it is nothing like the original. I do have to admit that the part of the series where Kenshin has a show down in a dojo (sp) courtjard with this burnvictim/bad guy got boring as hell. I figure they've had more then one showdown but maybe you can guess which one i'm talking about...there was also something nearby that resembled an oil platform, atleast there was constant shots of a chimney and fire. Anywho, it's good to know about something else interesting to watch. You know what I wish they had was a good ultra bloody/gorey anime series but with good plot and characters. I've seen stuff like Demon City Shinjuku (sp) and Wicked City, but they were not that gorey and the plot and characters sucked. If not like oscar winning in caliber atleast entertaining, much like the remake of Dawn of the Dead.

I must say- I thought I really wasn't going to like Ghost in a Shell Stand Alone Complex very much since I didn't really care for the movie, But once I saw it - It was pretty good. Wolfs Rain is really good- problem is with all really good shows is that they are too short- most series only have 26 episodes. Ruroni Kenshin is awesome and it has some historical value to it ( or So Anime magazine says). Spook, I appologize- but I have to buy the dubbed Anime- We were learning Japanese- but right now we suck at speaking it and understanding it ( just not enough time to practice). Anyone has anyone ever heard anyone with a southern Accent speak anything but english? It's a funny sight

Ever wanna see a mind fuck, bloody, gorey, fucked up, plot twisted, awsome as hell character, anime. Watch Beserker. Just for example the main character shuvs a foot thick blade through a child's chest pinning him to the wall as he cries for help. Yeah, that fucked up. IT SLICES! IT DICES! It cleaves through helmets and armor! Its the FF7 Buster Sword from Hell!

Actually I've seen some Bezerker, well atleast the first DVD of episodes. Most of it centered around the time when he was still and kid then a teen fighting with that femine guy in the Falcons. (sorry my memory for names is not good). It had it's moments but never really caught me. I guess it gets more violent later on? But then thinking about it, cartoons can never be as gorey as movies, they are drawings after all. I guess I was going about it the wrong way.
On a different topic, I just finished watching one of the InuYasha movies, the one that went of sale here not long ago. I liked it, it was one of the few movies from a series that was close to the quality to the series. Not like the Cowboy Bebop movie, I guess what really doomed that one for me was the lack of the awsome soundtrack from the series. If they had made something in those lines for the movie it would have been way better. The InuYasha movie soundtrack was a little overdone in someparts, but the animation was beautiful, especialy in the winter sequence. The only glich was the random 3d digital shot as they pulled out of the tree when the bad guy was whistling. If you are an Inuyasha fan i think this is worth seeing.
