This is a thread in the further division of our liquid indulgences. Here we can talk/ argue about the virtues of the last and perhaps best frontier Liquor.

Sounds like a plan. I as my name suggests shall drink some Jager then repeat and eventualy cry Uncle!
However, today's letter is V brought to us by way of Vandermint and interesting Dutch mint choco drink. That has a good kick for a "woosy" liquor.

As my first offical act:
Do any of you like whiskey/scotch/bourbon? if so are you a Jack or a Jim man/woman or is it someother brand that tickels your fancy? (of course, one can always drink more than one)
I personaly am a Jack Sour Mash type-o guy, it goes very well with coke. I haven't tried the other Jack lines though. Beside that I like Teachers Scotch, it has a very nice woodsy, caramelish flavor to it, makes very good whiskey sours. Otherwise I also drink a little Evan Williams, cause it's relatively cheap and is good for mixing. Then ofcourse there is the occasional Crown and coke.

As my first offical act: Do any of you like whiskey/scotch/bourbon? Mmm.. bourbon... not too knowledgeable of fine bourbons.. on a budget, though I went with something called the Bullet.. don't know if that's the real name or not; being as it was a mini bottle, I wasn't allowed to examine the bottle. It sufficed though, passable enough to throw it back straight like I usually did. I know I liked Maker's Mark, though, though that usually wasn't in my budget. Scotch - know nada about. Whisky, can't say too much.. my palate hasn't tried much o' that. I personaly am a Jack Sour Mash type-o guy, it goes very well with coke. I haven't tried the other Jack lines though. Beside that I like Teachers Scotch, Otherwise I also drink a little Evan Williams, cause it's relatively cheap and is good for mixing. Then ofcourse there is the occasional Crown and coke. Ok.. so maybe I do know a tiny bit here.. I liked Teacher's pretty well. Evan Williams - yech! Looks like it's in a Listerine bottle, but Listerine tastes better... Crown is tops in my brown liquor pantheon, though.

Well I dont' know Jack about any of that stuff (pun intended heh heh heh . . . ok whatever), however am always willing and ready to try new things when people hand them to me (with the exception of Boilermakers and cement mixers, yaharrrrr) so any reccomendations in the whiskey, cotch /bourbon feild sall be duely noted and sampled post haste. Hey wait whiskey, I had some good whiskey about 4 weeks ago, awww geez what was it ccalled? Well I can't remember the name but at least I can try to describe it, 'twas a fine smooth rather nutty, reasonably tasty at room temp, from what I understand a tad pricey to boot Irish whiskey. When I recover the name from my boon companion I shall share it wit' ye. buuuutt I think that's probably the extent of my experiences with said trio.
I have however develloped an infatuation with a particular inexpensive brandy, V*S*O*P E&J. 'Tis I feel a most versatile drink as it is drinkable at room temp as a brandy should be, or if ye like it cold it's good then too. It also combines unusually well with Dr. Pepper. I hear tale the world is full of finer brandy as I have heard word of many who have tried and dislike this liquor as much as I have that folks love it goood. Since our introduction I have yet to turn away a shot of E&J and I dont' think I could waste a drop.

With all the brown liquor in here, how about clear? Preferences? Do you get more or less hung over on the stuff? I personally like a good vodka, tending to head for Sky or Grey Goose (if I have the cash) but it's rare that I go for clear liquor... I need more education on the other clear ones though.

I used to drink a lot of vodka in the past, nowdays the smell alone is nausiating. Though on the occasion I still like a Bull and vodka, or Red Square as some call it (although that might be with lemon juice and ice tea added) either way vodka= (since there is no icon with x's for eyes). There was one time I tried this 11 year old Polish vodka that was supposed to be great. Well, let me tell ya it did not even make it down my throat before it exited quickly. imagine the taste of earthy potatos soaked in water and rubbing alcohol for 11 years, and then you are about where the taste of this thing was. I don't know, most vodkas of any price taste the same to me. So I guess you can say I'm not a vodka "insert french word". I do like tequilla, the silver or gold version. Unfortunatly at this time I can't remember any names. Gin is also good, in certain sittuations. Mixed as a tom collins, or with tonic, or my college favorite: 1 liter for every 64 ouches of Chick Filla lemonade. That was some good stooooof, it was you didn't feel the alcohol so you could get pretty trashed pretty fast. Have any of you tried any of those flavored drinks, like 99 bananas or Rumplemints? What do you guys think? I used to be a big fan or Cinnoman After Shock and something else that was mint flavored, it had a green and white lable with a guy on a chair, i think.

never tried Irish whiskey, i've heard some bad things about it from peep with greater whiskey knowledge than I (not hard to do). But, hey there are people out there that swear Ol' English is the shizzle! so I shall keep an I-ball out for it.
On a different tone, what is the wierdest/wildest drink/shot you have tried?

I hate to sound like the redneck here but I enjoy a good Smirnoff Ice sometimes,, or other drinks like that. I really like Smirnoff vodka- but I have a taste for rum and coke at times. Wine is always good though

Well if wine is what you like, we have a nice wine thread as well. I used to like the Smirnoff Ice & co. in college, but they just became too sweet to drink and now....well, I tried a Mike's Hard Lemonade the other day, and it tasted so odd, I remember it used to taste like that before as well, but somehow now it just tasted odd.
To answere my own question the strongest shot/drink I tried was a Moscow Square equal parts Vodka, Red Bull, then some Lemon Ice tea over ice. Shot-wise: a Hot shot, equal amount of tabasco/hot sauce and vodka. The shot with the funniest name is a Duck Fart A mini bottle of Crown, Bailey's and Kaluah. Good stuff!

while i do like to diversify my alcohol consumption i always have to go back to my fail safe. VODKA. smirnoff, absolute, whatever so long as its clear and burns like hell on the way down. the occasional sip of tequila isn't bad either.
