War of the Worlds i knew would suck, and considering the present company i don't think i have to say why.
Chainsaw felt the Knights Templar were misrepresented in Kingdom of Heaven.
I'm avoiding seeing One Hour Photo because i really don't wanna be able to identify any similarities between a film wacko and myself as i'm still working in a photo lab part time so yeah . . . not that i'd find them but you know just to be safe . . ignernts n'er hurt nobody.
Atari, did you give new DoD meh for it's over modernity or it s overly flea market priced humor?

I haven't seen any movies lately, though I aquired a bunch to be listed in a soon to come post. At work I've seen snippets of WotW which I know will suck were I to actually watch it, but I like some of the concepts for the aliens' appearance.

Actually, I think Kingdom of Heaven is more of a meh, but I'm a sucker for epic films (except I will never ever attempt to watch Troy). Dawn of the Dead was just, blah. I expected a lot more gore. There were lots of good headshots, but where's the dissemboweling, and the guts and stuff. Shaun of the Dead has more gore than this (if you've seen it, you know the scene I'm thinking of). I do like fast moving zombies though. The main character of One Hour Photo is me in 20 years(give or take 20 years). I haven't seen any movies lately, though I aquired a bunch to be listed in a soon to come post. At work I've seen snippets of WotW which I know will suck were I to actually watch it, but I like some of the concepts for the aliens' appearance. I thought the design of the tripods were good, but I thought the aliens were pretty goofy. It kind of kills the suspense when you see them.

I thought the design of the tripods were good, but I thought the aliens were pretty goofy. It kind of kills the suspense when you see them. I haven't seen the points in the film where you see the tripods - I saw the snakey tentacle thing that came into the house while the people where hiding behind the mirror. I kind of liked that. the promised films that I found:
A compilation called The Living Dead with 9 movies on it from the 40s to the 70s: The Night Evellyn Came Out of the Grave, The House by the Cemetary, Fangs of the Living Dead, I Eat your Skin, The Last Man on Earth (w/ Vincent Price!), King of the Zombies (1941!), Night of the Living Dead (original Romero) The Thirsty Dead, and Messiah of Evil ($10)
3 Bela Lugosi films on one DVD: White Zombie (1932) (replaces my old VHS), The Corpse Vanishes (1942), and Scared to Death (the premise sounds Hitchcockian, 1947) ($5)
Rammstein's Lichtspielhaus. a collection of concert highlights and 12 videos ( $7.50)
Not bad for $23. I'm very very content... just need time to watch these......

I thought the design of the tripods were good, but I thought the aliens were pretty goofy. It kind of kills the suspense when you see them. I just wanted to see the film to see what the aliens/tripods were like but then they ruined that by having it in the ads. I still want to see it, just for the mere entertainment. I thought Minority Report was an entertaining film, considering Tom Cruise was in it.

We watched Goodbye Lenin sometime ago. I found it to be an entertaining movie, but then I lived in eastern Europe so I had a little background in that sort of life. However I was living in Holland by the time the wall fell so I did not get to experiance how all that was and how people reacted. I think the film brought more to memory things my parents discribed and talked about when they were my age or around the time I was really small and such things as what grocery stores and news was like didn't matter. An interesting film concept, as far as I know pretty accurate to what it was like back then.

Has anyone seen Aeon Flux yet? We were going to go last week but decided to get some Christmas shopping done. Is it worth the admission price?

The average rating for Aeon Flux I have seen barely goes over 1 star.

Watched 28 Days Later Xmas day... It wasn't too bad, but not nearly as exciting as I hoped it would be. I truly truly appreciated the running pseudo-zombies - a nice change of pace from the usual shambling (Atari, you appreciate running xzombies also, right?) models... The film was a nice study of post-civilization-wipeout survival, I think a fairly decent vision of what survival in a world like that would be like. I just really wish there had been more pseudo-zombie action (can't call 'em zombies if they're just filthy diseased humans, right?) and thrills. Either way, gives all the more reason to not be able to stand some of the more extreme animal rights people - it was all their fault.
SO everyone, running zombies or stumbling zombies? What's your favourite - the classic or the new breed since these types are becoming more common in films these days?
I say running zombies - more chilling to know something will hunt you down in an athletic manner to tear your sweet sweet flesh apart....

I wish I could say I have seen more than Rudolph the red nosed reindeer on christmas eve with the kids this year. Although I think when Underworld Evolution hits theaters - Lord Sessho and I will see that. Other wise we are waiting for everything else to hit video. For those blood and gore lovers- the new Quintin Tarrentino movie looks interesting.

I think running zombies is an interesting concept...if you want to see stumbling zombies just go outside and mingle with the herd.

if you want to see stumbling zombies just go outside and mingle with the herd. Very True! I like running zombies, cause it keeps the action going, otherwise all you have is a bimbo screaming against a wall for 2 minutes while the more brain dead hubble over to her to give her a nibble. Shaun of the Dead had a good mix of both stumbling and running zombies. I think when they are attacking they should run and just for transport they can stumble around.

In Shaun I really appreciated the guy that got pulled out of the pub and turned into a buffet. The ripping out of entrails is so very classic, especially when they're stretchy and steamy and the guy is still screaming.

We watched Sahara somewhere over New Years - the story is absurd, but I thought it was entertaining enough as purely an action flick, though most of the action came from other movies' ideas (Flight of the Pheonix was in there, along with some Bond elements, Indiana Jones, etc). I did really like the cloaked dark stranger - very noir, or even a reminder of the "dark stranger" so popular in Victorian-era adventures.
