Well you know eye candy beats out content everytime. Take for example Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie or any pretty but incredible untalented actor/actress

At least in movies its "real" people. With video games, its like "Hey, nice polygonal ass."

Being sick again, I played Katamari for a while, then I started Kingdom Hearts against my better judgement. It's a wierd game, still trying to get a feel for it. The juxtaposition of Disney is really wierd, but I like the interaction of the FF characters. I didn't know the characters spoke in this game, but I am happy to report the voice acting doesn't suck for once.
Katamari: I still get cheap thrills out of rolling up people and hearing them scream.
So I guess now... In progress I've got FFII, Katamari, KH, and technically Chocobo Dungeon II (though I haven't played it in a long long while) and Sonic Adventures (ditto)
In the wings... the other FFs, ChronoCross New Game +, FF Tactics, Rayman (may as well start over), Castlevania from Beefy, and... something else?

We have a few games that we have been playing for PS2- Katamari From Spook, Red Ninja, Final Fantasy 10, and Inuyasha the secret of the cursed mask. Another Friend sent me a copy of Xenosaga for Christmas which I haven't quite gotten on yet. Although Lord Sessho has been stuck on the Katamari and Red Ninja. I have been playing Katamari with Aiden, I am surprised that he is pretty good at it for a 4 year old. I also have been plugging away at Final Fantasy10 to no avail- the same monster keeps beating me over and over. I must say I like the Katamari better- it is a bit more stress relieving I did spend Christmas eve Playing the Jade empire for Xbox and have been making pretty good progress on it. I can see that we will be spending Lots of quality time with the game systems this year. Pretty soon Lord Sessho will be too involved with his costumes to care about me stealing his game time ( laughs Evilly). Get feeling better Spook

Over the break a friend/professor lent me a bunch of games. Katamari, this is how we got hooked on it. Killswitch, which I have enjoyed especialy after I discovered you can switch to 1st person aiming. Now I'm stuck on one level so I usualy play Katamari instead of getting mad at Killswitch (one thing I don't like about console games is the lack of quick save on most games, it gets tiring going over and over the same level, and in my opinion it takes away from the game cause you get tired or going through the same room so many times and just say fuck it and do something else. Star Wars Battlefront, this is a very repetative game, just taking spawn points. But it has been relativly entertaining just blasting the shit out of everything on the map and the freedom of movement on the battlefield is very nice. MetalGear Solid 2, I hated this game, I could not get the hang of the controls, and I could never find any of the objects I was supposed to. I wish you could just shoot the enemy and dump their asses instead of having to sneak around with a dart gun. I also had major issues with the camera angle, I spent a good amount of time walking blind. SoulCaliber 2, It's just another fighting game, although I'm sure it's more fun with two people. Soccer Game 6, (I can't remember the title) the game was fun it takes me back to when my dad and I used to play one on our comodore 64. I could not score a goal in this game to save my life.
I was watching Kingdom of Hearts, and I liked what i saw I might try it out for myself and see where that goes.

I was watching Kingdom of Hearts, and I liked what i saw I might try it out for myself and see where that goes. It's such a wierd game, I have a hard time describing it. I've been playing for a little while, and I am still trying to see where its going. The juxtaposition of the two worlds is very jarring, but I like each individual world enough. The Shadow creatures are cool, though repetitive.. Except the friendly ones I accidently keep killing . The island part of the story at the very beginning reminded me a lot of ChronoCross. I do want to point out that this is the first game I've played with voices where the voice-acting didn't suck and actually fits the characters pretty well . I like seeing the interaction of the different FF characters together. The fight controls are too simplistic though, which leads to a tired thumb when dealing the with Shadow creatures. The oddity of the game is what keeps me interested.

Yesterday I got Lupin the III for ps2, just because I've been on a Lupin kick lately and it was a good deal. This will be the first game of this style, 3rd person puzzle/adventure that I owned so I'm looking forward to trying it.

I was watching Kingdom of Hearts, and I liked what i saw I might try it out for myself and see where that goes. We rented Kingdom Hearts last night and I am about 30 minutes into playing it now- have to say to this point I am unimpressed. I really don't care for the disney/ final fantasy characters mixed because the animators drew everyone extremely childlike- the art work is not as good as the final fantasy games. I really should play more of it before I judge I am sure- but it is a little hard to get into. I am still searching for a copy of Shadow Hearts- which I have heard is pretty good- but hard to get a copy of since they don't make it anymore. Speaking of Retro games- there is a old ps1 game that was just called D. It was really interesting in like the Silent hill sort of plot. That game is impossible to find now too. Josh is still working away on red ninja which seems to be a pretty difficult game to beat. I can't wait to play the new Dead or Alive game - but we have been waiting till we get some of these other games we have been playing out of the way. We love Lupin the third here- is the game any good?

I have not had a chance to play Lupin Yet. I got doom3 ultra cheap and tried playing that. I am not sure if my comp. has been on too long or it just can't run the game well (I suspect that it's the second case). Either way I liked the old style better. I dig the graphics but I hate the fact that when you switch from flashlight to a weapon you can't see jack shit. It's quite a waste of ammo. Can't a trained marine hold a flashlight and a 9mm at the same time, or tape the sucka to his shotgun? maybe that's why the war is going so bad, the marines have lost training in basic training, they have over trained. Like the time before the vietnam war, when tank and plane development was lacking cause everyone was saying "we dion't need that shit, we will nuke the pants off everyone!"

I just got Doom3 as well. My computer handles it in Linux even. Graphically its great, it has the best shadow effects I've ever seen. But, alas, the gameplay sucks monkey balls. Like Jager said, having to switch between the flashlight and gun sucks. The gameplay is just plain boring as well.
I also got Call of Duty and thats a great game. Its believable since you actually fight with other soldiers, rather than Medal of Honor type where you're a single super human American who can take out every single SS soldier with just a 9mm pistol and a shovel.

I really dig Call of Duty, I played the original pc version and thought it was a real step up in shooter design. I played the ps2 version, there the single/superhero aspect comes around a little more. I want to play it again and play it from the couch to get the real enjoyment. I played the 2 demo on the x-box360 and that was awsome, the gameplay was even more realistic and looked great, well on an HD tv. I hear Fear is a good mix of gore/shooter with Half Life elements. still too expensive in my opion.

I really should play more of it before I judge I am sure- but it is a little hard to get into. Very true on all counts, though I don't mind how they designed the FF characters' appearance. The child-like look is no different to me than, say FF IX. It does take a while for KH to get off of the ground - didn't really get into it for a long while. I've played for a little while now, and it is more interesting, but I have some major gameplay gripes. I HATE traveling from world to world. It's a pain in the ass that I can't just go from point A to point B without the stupid little retro mini-game thing. Some of the worlds irritate me muchly in their lay-out (Go to Point A for plot advancement. Go to point B to go further. Now return to point A. Oh! Back to point B! Guess what? Point A again! HA HA TURKEY!) I would like to see more FF involvement and more to the fight controls. Buuut... despite these gripes, I like the story now that it's finally getting somewhere. There are some creative twists that I like (Hate Tarzan's world, but like Winnie the Pooh's world, same with Olympus versus Woderland). Still like the personalities and how they manifest in the FF characters. Most of all, I like the different varieties of the Heartless I've encountered. They're neat in their diversity, though the winged ones (forget their name, sorry) remind me of a small version of FF 9's Black Waltz... no, scratch "small". They're more like the Hoopty Version of the Black Waltz. ;D At this point I'm playing more for the Heartless and to see what happens with the FF people than anything else, though exploring the worlds is some distant 3rd.

Has anyone played Shadow of the Colossus? It is probably the best game I have ever played. Ever. The art design, music, gameplay, story, everything is damn near perfection. (I guess the only thing holding it back is the limitations of PS2). It might not be for everyone, but everyone should at least try it.
Or I will kill you.

I've heard a lot of praise for Shadow of the Colossus, but I have not had time to play anyting lately. I did like the designs and levels I did see online and in magazines.
