I tried adding a photo of a snarf as I know it, but the link obviously failed. I'm referring to the only snarf that a proper child of the eighties would recognise....

So anyway i defeated Mr tooth surgery Bill Man with the might of 936 digital george washington papers and i had some left over so i stops by the convenient new rhino near me house on the way home from de worken and went and bought me one a dem new ps2s. I was like crap in a hat ! That's tiny! I mean it's like a book or something i kinda just have it sitting on my mouse stool upon which my microsoft optical mouse sits, which is really funny cause it's the only product i've ever had from them which i was satisfied, i h8 microsoft by the way, i'm a certified Lindows lover . . . . . . anyyway now that i've had my ADD moment, which reminds me where's my . . . oh . . . sorry . . .so anyway it's really neat besides being tiny it has the old style flip top disk loading and comes internet ready which is nice. No spot for a ps2 HD tho no biggie and it even has built in the sensor for the dvd remote but the feature that really got me sold owas the improved rading track thus it shall not get bad like my first ps2 which still works by the way but i'm a nerd it's kina my job to have 2 ps2s hooked to 2 tvs and my box of lessah powah for maximum nerdity
. . . . . . i can do it . . i can do it nine times

The ps2 is teeny indeed. It's still finicky with DeeVeeDees though. My first one completely crapped out - it ground its last grind after a spate of reading PSX games only which lead to reading nothing whatsoever. I still got credit for it from EB, though I had the misfortune to take it on a day that it decided to not work, unlike the day before when it did work. It's pretty funny that I have the ps2, but I've been working on a couple of psx games for the past while.

I just beat FFX. I don't know what to start on next... So how was it? What's the game engine like? Is it worth playing? Are you going to follow up with X2?

Hmmmmm.....
Some things were good, somethings were not so good. The main character is the typical FF pointy haired, oversized phallic sword, and ridiculous clothes. They talk in this one, and they decided to give him the worst voice they could get. Not good. It does make up with some cool characters, but the main character (Tidus) makes me cringe.
THere are no world maps in this one. It makes it somewhat more realistic, but it gives the game a very linear and narrow feel. (And limited Chocobo use)
The combat system is now turn based. You get three characters at one time. They changed one thing that I think is one of the best things they have ever done in a FF game: you can swap characters during battle. I think this should have been used a long time ago, because you don't end up with underused characters.
If you like FF, you'll like this one. Great graphics and music as always. A pretty good balance of cheesy and awesome characters. A decent story.
If you're a FF7 fanboy who thinks FF7 i2 teh r0x0r! FF8 is teh ghey sux0r! THen you won't like this one.
I'll give it 9/10.

i'm still in the middle of 10, i wanna finish it but i wanna do it when i'm certain i'll have time to devote to it as i wish. I'm at the part with the big blitzball tourney and i stopped cause i'm too lazy to get blitzball down i just wann ago and kill crap and "lvl" up, or sphere up or whatever. However if it's gonna be final fantasy for me i'm actually supposed to be on 5 right now, which i need to retrieve from McGrady S-type who borrowed it and never played it. I played monster hunter a couple of times last week . . . or was it the week before last oh well not long ago anyway. Before that i was working on Mega Man 7 and actually found the game entertaining after i discovered the Rush adapter, the game's pretty difficult without it . . . .

these days i been workin' on Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. I'd say i'm only about maybe between 1/4 and 1/3 of the way through, judging by the quality of equipment available so far. Of course i'm pleased to see they added a monk character, as i right cotton to the ide'er of beating the crap out of shmeevil with'a mah hands. It appears they've recycled the music from it's predecessor so no real improvment there, not that i was expecting it. You actually get to put precious stones found to use in this game by using them to make powerful peices of armor and various weapons. Other than that nothing special really, frankly i don't really reccomend buying this game for much, especially if you're not really the dungeon crawler type. No, it's not much all in all but for the moment it's something to do for free . . .

Not very retro, but has anyone checked out the xbox360? It's a bit overpriced but the games look nice. I played the Call of Duty 2 demo at the store and it looks awsome, but I think part of that is that it is on a plasma tv.

From what I've heard, the 360 has to be hooked up to a HDTV to take advantage of everything. Apparently playing on standard TV doesn't look much better than current consoles.
I just wish they would make some creative games instead of worrying about graphics.
