...Boddingtons,Guiness in the can,Youngs double chocolate stout is more of a cream ale style..the Sam Adams is not bad but if i had to choose i go with the English..if you can find it try Old Speckled Hen "named after a british MG race car" in cans also...yeah, yeah i know, CANS SUCK,but the beers have a nitrogen widget in them that ,when opened, produce a tap feel beer..ps Boddingtons is brewed in Manchester,England..home of Joy Division/New Order... ;D

Tonight I tried the Boddington's with my dinner - it was very clean and crisp tasting, tasted just right for a good steak I liked it very much, except for the price. Also tried Black Sheep Ale, but the coffee taste just doesn't doo much for me.

Okie kids and older people this is going to be a massive review of beers: Boddingtons, Strangeways Brewery, England
Overall I found this to be quite a pleasent beer, pouring it in the glass was possibly the coolest part of this creation. I found it to be a good beer with dinner a little on the bitter, but a definate repeat buy.
3 out 5
Black Sheep Ale, Black Sheep Brewery, 4.4% vol, England
I was a little disappointed by this one, it was not particularly tasty or interesting. All I can tell you is that it has a slight coffee hint to it. But they do make a nice coaster.
2.5 out of 5
Ephemere, Unibroue, 5.5% vol
Good stuff, I'm a fan of wheat beer, and this one was quite interesting, although not exactly as I expected it. I would recomend this to any fan of wheat or sweeter beers. Once again like the Maudite this one ferments in the bottle which gives it a slightly different flavor and feel then other wheat beers.
4 out of 5
Hobgoblin, Wychwood Brewery, England
This is a bitter dark chocolate flavored ale that probably has one of the most unique tastes i have tried. I would recommand this to everyone that likes darker beers and anyone else who wishes to try something different. I recommend u buy some of this in a liquor store cause the cheapest i've seen it in a bar is 16.75 a bottle.
3.5 out of 5
Bad Elf, Peter Scholef Brewery, 6% vol. England
I did not like this beer that much, I tried it at a friends house. It is not to interesting, except for a very strong hopps flavor. This is a winter seasonal brew so I don't know if it is available at other times.
2 out of 5
Black Douglas, Broughton Ales Limited, Scotland
This has got to be one of my favorite beers. It has a light, but crips and full bodied flavor to it. I recommand this to anyone. It is a dark beer yet it is not your typical bark beer flavor. Try it! Once again I belive this is quite an expansive beer so by it at a store first.
5 out of 5
I'd like to appoligize for my numerous spelling mistakes in advance, it's just one of those nights. Thanks Toodles!

If I ever get the time, I'd love to blow up the image on the Hobgoblin label and make a poster outta it. It's one of my favourite labels. The brew it's isn't bad either - I wasn't as taken with it, but it was decent enough. I eagerly await to try the famed Black Douglas I've been hearing about - sounds like something I'd really go for.

More Beer!
Old Slug Porter Dark Ale 4.3% England RCH Brewery.
England has made some good brews but this was not one of them. I can honestly say that I would have to be forced to drink another one of these ever again. However, here is the break down: The flavor is simular to the Black Sheep I reviewed last week, however much more bitter and a much stronger coffee flavor. I felt like I was drinking coffee grinds soaked in beer. But maybe that is a Porter is supposed to be like so taster like so if you are a fan or such things please indulge. Also it appears that this beer has one some awards so all the better (just not for me).
1 out 5
Reaper Ale Deathly Pale Ale 6.2% US ReaperAle inc.
I am sad to say the name was the best part of this beer in my opion. It was pale yes, so did not lie, but except for a too stong a hopps flavor I found the brew uninteresting and not really to my palate.
2 out 5
Samuel Smith Old Brewery Pale Ale England Old Brewery Tadcaster.
I was very impressed with this one. It had a good body a very pleasing flavor, goes down smooth like a newly waxed bikiny line. I would recommend this one to any fan of pale ale. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other beers from this brewer.
4 out 5
Fraoch Heather Ale, 5% Scotland Heather Ale Ltd.
I have to tell you first why I tried this beer. When I saw it for the first time it was on the top shelf of the liquor store in a large case that looked like a castle. It caught my eye and I went it close, apperently it was a commemorative display box with extremly fine detail on this castle that was made from porcelain or something like that. As you guessed it it was ungodly expensive. So after some searching i found just a single bottle for sale. I read what it was about and it interested me. According to the company this is one of the oldest beer brewing styles and has been made since 2000 bc. Now what beer drinker wouldn't try that?! Ok the review: this is a light amber product that has a very distinct flavor to it. The heather makes it have a very earthy/herby taste that may not be for everyone. I would say everyone should try it atleast once, if you like that flavor, good, drink more, if it's not for you you can think " so this is what beer was like when people still knew how to lay down the law and not be freaked out about being PC. In fact I say drink one of these, grab a battle axe and burn down a village and get yourself some wenches or gold ( whatever floats your boat more)!
3 out 5
Dorothy Goodbody's Our Glass, stout, 6% England Wye Valley Brewery
I have to admit I bought this one for the pin-up girl on the lable. However, I was pleased, this is a good overall package, which is full bodied, flavour-full and at the same time light. Once again recomended to fans of ales and stouts, but this is one that I think any beer drinker would like. It is nothing to write home about but still something worth drinking a few times.
3.5 out 5
That is it for me.

My mistake, the finger was quicker then the brain. This is not really a review, call it a info session. If any of you ever happen to end up in Bavaria, Germany that is I have a place right off the highway I want to recommand for both food and beer, and sleeping in. The place is the Winkler guesthaus in the village of Lengenfeld. The building is from 1426 and it has been a brewery since 1626 they have two lines, a blond and a dark both are excellent. Beside that they have some of the best food and beds anywhere in germany. Ofcourse they serve all the regular german beers but there own are far supperior. Unfortunatly I have not seen it on sale beyond 20 km of the village. So I am serious if you are in the area I advise you to go look this place up. I can even give you a map.
well back to the beer......

Once again I shall review!
Xingu, Brazil, Cervejaria Independente, Ltda
I tried this because I've never had a brazilian beer before, and as far as this one goes I can't get enought. (For those of you in Columbia, SC this can be had at the Flying Saucer, and Speak Easy.) This is a black beer, I'm talking black like Guiness black (though not a thick and heavy), I was expecting that same character as Guiness, however Xingu is very different. It is mildly bitter, but has a very light and crisp body, with a unique flavor that I can't quite discribe. I would recommand this to all, fans of pale and dark beers alike. Best of all it is not overly expensive. I've found it's on par in price with many lesser beers like Fosters, Heineken and Killians. (My appologies to fans of fore mentioned products). 5 out 5

Hello hello! Finally got to try the Black Douglas brew - have to say I definitely liked it.. I think it reminded me a bit of Newcastle, but can't say for sure until I can do a tast comparison. If Uncle Jager will prompt my memory on the name of the apple brew we tried, I don't know his opinion but I think overall I didn't care for it. The sort of sweet apple taste that hit first and the crisp fermented taste that followed was a bit jarring for me. I think somewhere I had a dim memory of mead floating in my head, but it's been so long since I tried it, I can't be sure of that either.

Ephemere...oh mighty mistress, rotten to the apple core.Perhaps you would like the Xingu, a black lager with treacle and anise aroma..it's described as "Black Silk" and i agree..a VERY good dark beer! I believe its pronounced "shing-zoo"...

More Alcoholic Commentary:
Scarecrow, Ale, 4.7%, England, Wychwood Brewery.
I was excited to try another product from Wychwood, and I wasn't disappointed. Thought I can't remember the exact taste (I guess I should write these right after consumption) I have to say that this was one of the best pale/blonde ales I had. I was very rich in flavour, yet light. A definate for any fans of pale/blond ale or anyone looking for a lighter beer to drink.
4.5 out 5
Riggerwelter, Yorkshire Ale, 5.7%, England, Black Sheep Brewery.
I was initialy a little warey to to try this beer, after having tried a Black Sheep earier. (I had bought the two bottles together) I found that this one had a very suprising first taste, my friend described it as coffee-ish, however, I would say it was more like the charcoal flavour that meat has when grilled. Overall, I would describe it as a heavy full bodied beer with a dark color, with a slight bitterness. I would say that if you like beers like Black Sheep or any bitterish dark ale this is a product for you. I on the otherhand found it too be a little too much beer for me.
3 out 5
Newcastle, Brown Ale, England Newcastle Brewery.
This is quite a common beer, but one I had never tried till last night. It was recommended to me after having a Black Douglas with a friend. I would describe this as being a Grey Douglas...lighter, less crisp and not as stong a flavour. I still enjoyed it and will ad it to my list of regulars since it is available everywhere except for the seediest redneck dives (but then the chances of me being in a place like that are slim anyway).
