I stumbled over a most enjoyable group over the weekend, Tsunamibomb. one of my large friends introduced me to them and at the time I couldn't really think of too many bands to compare them with at the time, but patience has prevailed as always and I have come up with a description. Take some Flogging Molly, throw in some Pain and dabble on a whee bit o Jack Off Jill an there ya go. Aye sez I.

OK..Since i cant go out and kill tonight-damn restraining order- i've been feeling the need for speed and anger..this weeks vicious vinyl.....SKITSYSTEM-"Enket Resa Till Rannstenen"(LP) INFEST-"No Mans Slave"(LP)- INFEST-"Estrepito"(EP) DISCHARGE-"Hear Nothing,See Nothing,Say Nothing"(LP) NINE SHOCKS TERROR-"Paying Ohmage"(LP) LUDICRA-"Hollow Psalms"(LP) DRI-DIRTY ROTTEN IMBECILES-"Dirty Rotten LP"(LP) SEPTIC DEATH-"Now That I Have The Attention,What Do I Do With It?"(LP) RUDIMENTARY PENI-"Death Church"(LP) and THE MEATMEN-"We're The Meatmen..And YOU Suck"(LP) just for its obnoxious value alone..The others are a Full Frontal Assault mix of hardcore, black metal, and pure, unadulterated, brutal, relentless aggression. And who says violence never solves anything? I feel better already!!!

And who says violence never solves anything? I feel better already!!! I would have to agree, a little violence, especialy when delivered by some black metal is always refreshing. I was practicing that philosophy yesterday, playing some old cradle of filth eating a sophisticated lunch with a nice glass of wine. (I lie i was eating left overs with a glass of milk) But the point still stands the music did make the rest of my day much more enjoyable. On another subject what/who would you define as black metal? I'm always interested in what people group in there because it seems to be such a misunderstood genra, infact I would say that about metal as a whole. Many people still think of Poison and Winger when you say the word(s) Heavy Metal...which always made me wonder.

Defining a genre as broad within itself as metal is...makes for a difficult explanation of Black Metal..Perhaps Bathory,Venom,Slayer,Merciful Fate,HellHammer and Sodom can be accredited with first bringing the "dark" ie Satanism, into a more public light back in the early 80's..Venoms 2nd album"Black Metal" is prolly the earliest use of the term.It seems that most of the violence and blasphemy in the music at that time was more "show" shock value..Real Black Metal bands are those who worship the pagan and ancient beliefs, the supernatural forces that are older than christianity,Even satanism is really not an issue they deal with seriously. The Svarte Sirkel(Black Circle)expresses fierceness, darkness, cruelty, and EXTREME denial of the "Christianized modern world"...some bands that fall into this area- Absurd,Graveland,Funeral Winds,Liar of Golgotha,Wolfsburg,Mayhem,Emperor,Enslaved,Necromantia,Burzum,Cradle of Filth,Deicide,Cannible Corpse etc. so forth and so on...ALL HAIL COUNT GRISHNACKH and THE WILD HUNT !!!

So next question: Do you listen to any of those? I like Emporer and Cradle, some Deicide, a smidge of Cannibal Corpse. I listen to a huge array of music as I've said before, but those (among others) pop into the list now and then. I've been known to also enjoy a few Merciful Fate tunes.

Well on a lighter note I've been feeling extra weird today so I decided to break out some classics before I head out for the evening. This evenings . . . um . . well I don't guess I could honestly call much of it music . . .well tonights arranged sounds of odd include "Cut the Mullet" by Wesley Willis, I Like Beans" by Brak (the Great Andy Merrill), "Dare to Be Stupid" by Weird Al (still haven't figured out how that ties in with Transformers The Movie . . oh well), the Get Smart Theme, the Sanford and Son theme, followed by a single snippet from a Paula Cole song "where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" at exactly 1:45-44 seconds remaining, the ever peculiar way she draws out beeeeeerrrrrr. You've thought about it. You've asked yourself "WTF?" when no one's looking . . .

I would have to say that Cannibal Corpse is not black metal, but more gore/death metal. Since they focus more on the gore factor and extreme hatred of female folk in their songs. To me it's all good stuff, but you may have some one come along and cause all sorts of shit about something minor like that. For those of you interested I am currently listening to Sacraversum, preceded by some Root. Interestingly enought there is two interesting books on metal and the occult (sp?) that I read recently that were quite interesting Lucifer Rising and Lords of Chaos. Both are a little blotted but an interesting read non the less. Also if it is noise you are interested in I would recommend checking out Finntroll, it is Finnish 'Humpa' polka combined with sludgy metal and a singer who must smoke a carton a day. I have not heard anything else like it. ;D

Why dont you people just cut to the chase and dig up Bach,Beethoven, and Brahms and have your way with their spinning corpses?Like i said, metal is a tough mountain to climb and define...me..i prefer angry ,aggressive punk rock...listening to an albums worth of someone who sings like they just sucked on a bottle of lysol doesnt thrill me all that much...but..thank kaos that you do listen to music other than DAVE"SHUDDER" matthews,HOOTIE and the BLOW ME'S and all that other corporate SHIT...Who here would like to see britney spears decapitated at half-time at the stupor bowl?
