"Television taught people to watch 'Friends' rather than have friends. Today, relatively little of our leisure time is spent interacting with other people. Now we spend it observing machines." -- Robert B. Putnam

I think the reason Bush & Co. can get away with their bullshit is because Americans don't bother holding him accountable. Everyone's to busy worrying about the latest fashions and what celebrity couple is going to break up. Meanwhile, the right wing hatches a plan for world domination that also involves transforming America into a christian theocracy,... better burn your bibles while you can!

So..let me get this straight..americans are mindless, brain dead, lemmings pushing and shoving their way over the celebrity, fashion cliff ? Are you saying americans are ignorant ?? I'm an american and i think bush was right to send our troops into that country next to canada..iraq and its leader, saddam tussaud ,and his museum of Wax of Mass Disfunction posed a threat to our freedom as americans to not even bother to vote because the bodily functions of movie stars and sitcoms are more interesting..besides, how can we suck down a gallon of chunky monkey AND push the button in those tiny, little voting boofs ??

I'm not saying Americans are ignorant. They just don't hold Bush accountable for some reason. I mean, this administation authored the Patriot act, one of the most offensive pieces of legislature ever. Not to mention the ridiculous Dept. of Homeland Security.
I think that removing Saddam from power was a good thing, but trying to argue it on WMD was BS. All you have to do is cite all of his atrocities, and you have more than enough reason to act. But to use WMD, which may or may not exist, was wrong. And I would like to know how Iraq posed a threat to our freedom. Why is a country that has nothing to do with 9/11 worthy of invasion when a country that has everything to do with 9/11 (Saudi Arabia) not? And if WMD and an evil dictator requires action, why not North Korea, where there is a holocaust occuring before our eyes?
But who cares about the state of the world when failing actors and porn stars are vying for the leadership of California? Nothing like reality t.v. to numb our brains.
