The forum has courted near-disaster and is somewhat miracuously recovering. I thought it was only my account experiencing technical difficulties, but I have been told members have had some problems as well. If you experience problems, bring them here and I'll see if I can iron it out. Since this is currently a critical issue, I ask that ONLY posts concerning technical issues about the forum be made here, so that I can address them more quickly. If nothing is posted here, I will assume everything is peachy keen and can stop worrying.

On top of the problems the Forum has experienced over the last two days, I have also learned that the company hosting many of the images on this forum is now in a state of flux. Originally, I thought that they simply were not taking anymore uploaded images, but I've noticed that images hosted by them sometimes are not showing up. It's not always consistent - sometimes only a few don't show, then all won't show, then everything's fine, etc, and it isn't always the same images. Please let me know if you are seeing this also, or if I am the only one seeing this.
Just in case there are any trends, please mention (if you can) what image(s) is/are failing to appear.
Also - the failed images remain fully functional links, you may have to mouse over them to figure out what it is, but it will still work. Really.

Also - the failed images remain fully functional links, you may have to mouse over them to figure out what it is, but it will still work. Really. The only Images being seen now in the main part of the board are a few of the personal portraits, the online messenger cluster and your stars. In this reply section The "Add Tags" and "Add Smileys" all show up fine. If you have removed the wallpaper that may explain why I don't see it otherwise I think I need to get a Cyber-Eye Dog. The biggest bug here is logging in on a registered account - the software is not allowing us to do that. When trying to use my handle, I am told that it is being used by another user and I have to invent a name to add a post or response. Some of this problem is due to being behind a router on a network, the devices offers some protection from web bugs and other junk. The message service you are using is laying the tracking junk on pretty heavy and is expecting to be able to totally invade a user's computer, that is real obvious when popping in here with the firewall and ad blocking fully on. In other cases of identity denial, the ISP a person uses offers some protection from web junk and that will also cause them the same problems. Hope this helps suss out what the problem is.

In this reply section The "Add Tags" and "Add Smileys" all show up fine. If you have removed the wallpaper that may explain why I don't see it otherwise I think I need to get a Cyber-Eye Dog. I haven't done anything to the wallpaper. I'll give pix8 (the image hosting site) a few more days, then host the images elsewhere. That sounds like a reasonable cause, but it seems that if that was the issue, you guys would have had difficulty logging on a year, year and a half ago when I began this forum, instead of just now. I do know that the logging on problems did not arise until 3 days ago when things went a little kaputsky. Since the main problems have been fixed, I'm guessing there is a bug still lurking that is residue from that, causing your problems. In other cases of identity denial, the ISP a person uses offers some protection from web junk and that will also cause them the same problems. Hope this helps suss out what the problem is. Please see the above point. I appreciate your help - you raise good points. I think, though, if these things were the case, the problem would have arisen sooner. I'm still looking into this, and will get back to everyone. I do want to mention here that I really appreciate everyone's patience while this is getting ironed out. Thanx....

For the sake of function and dealing with only one problem at a time, I've reset all images hosted by pix8 to the default Proboards versions. Please let me know if the failed images continue.

I see that LEGION has successfully logged in. Are the login problems cleared up, or are others still unacknowledged by the system? Atari? Ignatz?

It seems like everything is working again, but the issues Cicada brought up about cookies and pixeling are the cause of most of the problems. One cannot stay logged in to post unless ALL forms of ad-blocking, cookie-blocking and such on a visitor's computer have been disabled. In other words, no privacy from ProBoards and that is not a very good thing since Angelfire tosses a lot of pop-ups containing the "Avenue A" trojan and Proboad's little pixel is a tracking mechanism to see where we all have been between visits. Oh well, anyone that has been here to play, please make a point of clearing your browser cache after logging out and run a virus checker or (better) Spybot frequently. Anything "free" on the internet has a price and it seems collecting ip addresses for spam is the price this particular company extracts from us all. No need to fear having fun posting if the above-mentioned precautions are taken. ;D

I agree with IGNATZ.."lil Angel"....The only good things in life that are "FREE" is" FREE BEER !!" Unless Coors,Budweiser and Miller have cookies and spyware in every 6 pack...if they did i guess you could call it "the Mark of the Yeast"...is it 666,or just a delirium tremour??.."Y..Y..YEAH..L.. L.. Lemmee G..G..Get A Six..Six..Six ..Pack of C..C..COORS LIGHT....Theres more cookies in angelfire than the whole damn Keebler F..F..FACTORY !! Those F*CKING elves are invading our pc's and tossing their COOKIES everywhere..Firewalls,Antivirus,ad-blocking etc. so forth and so on.. should i wear a bullet proof vest, riot helmet, and CID environmental suit when i go to 7-11 for cigarettes ? Why the HELL should i have to treat every website like it has AIDS?

As I've said before, drag more people here and turn them into repeat visitors, and I'll jump the Angelfire wagon and go to an ad-free (no pop-ups or banners!!) host. Visitor traffic is no where near enough for me to justify putting $ into the site yet, though I ache to go ad-free more than you guys are probably aware.

Dear Almighty Forum Mistress,
Fear not, we all can work around the "junk" and other issues of the free version, it is sooo nice to just have a place to be able to have some fun. ;D It is not a dire need pay for ad-free and pay precious earnings to what is a big profit-making corporation collecting a lot of $$ from so many people on the web who think that having just 1 user means ad-free is a must. We all understand your wishes to have a 'clean screen', but as you mentioned in another post the ads here tend to be rather amusing. Nothing like seeing what schlock gets dished up because it appeals to the average internet user these days. LOL!!!!
