It looks like I'm going to be job hunting too. The program I work for got level funded this year(thanks Mr. Bush!) and other budget issues have forced my boss to not renew my contract after Aug 31. My boss was nearly in tears telling me this. It sucks cuz it was a great job where I got to help people who really needed it.

sorry to hear about this, but you know what? a lot of other people are saying the same thing (and thanking the monkey, coincidentally) and a lot more are trying like hell to get a decent job after grinding away for 4+ years in college. we keep hearing about an "economic recovery" and each month it is announced that x number of new jobs became available, but i wonder what country this is all happening in since illegal immigrants and out-sourcing seem to be the mode of operation du jour.. of course, the magic tricks of re-classifying burger flipping at mickey d's as "manufacturing" does brighten the picture for the masses if they believe in the revised version of ronnie voo-doo economics (take housing costs out of the pictire and voila! we have no inflation!(memory refresher for those who only read about that in history class)). wonder if anyone can survive on that when our supposed "low inflation rate" has raised prices for everything - have you noticed it costs 1/3 more now to buy groceries than last summer (buying basically the same stuff)? apologies for the beginnings of a rant, good luck in your job search, my thoughts will be with you as they are with spook's constant battle with closed doors. amazing what a college degree will get ya these days, eh? It looks like I'm going to be job hunting too. The program I work for got level funded this year(thanks Mr. Bush!) and other budget issues have forced my boss to not renew my contract after Aug 31. Thanks, and just so everyone knows, I'm not blaming Bush in the general sense. He actually did some specific things with funding for our program nationwide. My boss explained it to me, and it sort of came down to bombs are more important than helping kids get into college.

Maybe Atari should apply to the NWO...after all, Numerous War Opportunities is government funded, and theres never a shortage of "positions".. ie..cannon fodder, needed to further the goals of the only people who are benefitting from the crimes being committed inside and outside of this country..anybody see the connection between the Munich beer hall fire and 9-11? If you do your subject to Patriot acts 1 and 2..Hope you enjoy camping with counselor ashcroft!! Even Craftsman couldnt improve on the effectiveness of a tool called "Fear"..If you want an example of a soundtrack to play, while you watch the drama unfold,,try giving "Queensryche's"OPERATION MINDCRIME a spin.....

Good luck to you, Atari.
I'm back in Cola-town. The trip to Savannah had mixed results, in that I found a place to live but that the job hunt was pretty non-productive. I found a job to keep me off the ground, but I'll still have to get another light part-time job to keep floating smoothly. The job I found seems like a decent thing though - there are real opportunities for advancement in both position and pay, so things can get better with that. It should hold me while I'm still looking for something more.
In other news, I received a call to set up an interview with US customs and border patrol as an agriculture specialist. I don't have any record of applying for this job, but I am pretty sure I did (I've lost track of how many I've applied for, compounded by the fact that many jobs I applied for before Christmas, I no longer have records for. This would be one of this, I'm pretty sure). I'll find out more tomorrow hopefully. I'll also find out more about the Dept. of Ag. jobs hopefully tomorrow - now that I'm home and have access to the #, I want to call the people I interviewed with last two times and reiterate that I am still interested in the position.
Okkkk... beddy bye now. buh-bye!

Dept of Ag, Dept of Custard.... I wonder if aggravating custard has glass bits in it? maybe just mealworms? I guess one should just say dessertworms?
Anyways, the customs interview went ok. I applied for this last November if I remember right, so I guess I'll hear from them again around January or February.

Hello Once again!
Life has been pretty hectic, trying to tie everything up before I move and stuff. Life has improved significantly, though - I no longer work at the Gourmet Shop, which is wonderful! I am very happy about that. My last day at the kennel is tomorrow, which makes me very sad, but I am excited about heading out this weekend and starting work (full time hours finally!!) next week, and I sort of even look forward to (yet understandably not) coming back and doing the official move and settling into my new place at the end of the month. I'll be working on a page a little bit at a time showing some of the stuff I am leaving behind (friends, jobs, etc) but also showing some of the stuff I'm going on to.

Heyhey people... It's now thursday evening. Just so everyone knows, I'm going offline for a few days, probably until sunday. I have to finish packing stuff tonight and tomorrow, then on saturday duck down to savannah so I can go to work sunday am. I'll pop back online that evening. I'll be there for about 10 days, then come back to Colatown, get a truck, and officially move to savannah. I don't know how things will go as far as being online when I move, but I am anticipating a short absence (hopefully very very short). If it becomes longer than a week, then I will let you guys know ahead of time. Have a great weekend, and don't destroy my forum while I'm gone.

Well, life seems somewhat settled. I've gotten accustomed to my temporary residence (sort of) and have been doing well at work. They other day (my 2nd day) they appreciated my efforts and gave me a small gift certificate, which made me feel more confident about being there. Today I go back for my 4th day, a late shift. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Despite everything, I still feel like a visitor here. I suppose it is because none of my things are here, aside from some basic necessities. I go back to Colatown on Wednesday, Load up on Thursday, and depart on Friday. Then we get the new apt, and next comes a month of unpacking and working. I've had two days off since saturday, so I've tried making the most of them since a) I never let a day off be a day off, previously and b) My days off for the next month or so are going to be busier than my days off before I moved (oh wait... the month and a half up until I moved, I didn't have any). I've been trying to read a little - forgot how good that was for the mind. I also went down to the beach, down to the point where the surf is choppy and beach-goers don't accumulate because of the currents and the jellyfish washing up, and read. It was heavenly, and I didn't get a parking ticket, even though I should have. This must be what life is like for normal people... but without the jellyfish.

Ahoihoi! I may or may not be gone for a few days. I'm heading back up to Colatown to arrange the final moving of all my stuff. I should be back online pretty quickly, in a week or two at the latest, but the last time I said that while moving, I was without Inet for a while as I battled various technical problems. Soo... I should be back without a hitch in a few days, but if I am absent for a short time, don't be surprised. I'll still send you guys some messages from the great beyond. Cheerio!!

A hoihoi!! The Spook is back, now hailing from Savannah GA! It seems things are back to normal (almost - just with lots of boxes in the way). I'm glad to be back and I've missed the forum; I also wanted to say how proud I am of how the forum is going - there's a great discussion about fine brews, another about fine games, and I've even noted a bit of fine camraderie. I'm really happy with how things are going and hope that we'll keep it up, and continue to get the forum to its fullest potential. Thanks, guys!!
Ok, pep talk is over. I'm proud and all that, now go away. Family Guy's on.
